Ronald Holland Obituary

Ronald Elroy Holland of Chestertown, MD died on October 5, 2022. Mr. Holland was born in Chicago, IL on June 12, 1943 to the late Elroy Evelis and Floryce Kohler Holland. He was a graduate of Amundsen High School with the class of 1961. He continued his education at the University of Illinois before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years with the NSA. After honorable discharge from the Navy, he went to work for RCA, then General Electric and the Computer Sciences Corporation, and eventually with NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. During his time at Goddard, he worked in Spacecraft Operations on the Hubble Space Telescope.

He married his wife of over fifty years, Patricia Tomichek Holland, on August 14, 1965. The two lived in Baltimore, Arbutus, Millersville, and Davidsonville, MD before moving to the Eastern Shore in 2003, where they lived in Centreville for 14 years. In 2016, they moved to Heron Point in Chestertown. A man of many hobbies and interests, he enjoyed woodworking, playing drums, singing, and building PCs. He had a love for quantum physics and astronomy. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was a Third Order Secular Franciscan and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Brian Holland and Patrick Holland. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holland, and sister, Faith Colleen Carr. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown, MD. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Owensville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heron Point Benevolence Fund at 501 E. Campus Ave, Chestertown, MD 21620 or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 508 High St, Chestertown, MD 21620.
